When I Go Don't Cry For Me

"When I go don't cry for me
In my Father's arms I'll be
The wounds this world left on my soul
Will all be healed and I'll be whole."

Wednesday the father of two little girls that are in our Guardian of the Vision program passed away. Leticia and Raquel are two sweet, amazing little girls who have quite a calling on their lives. Leticia is a natural born leader and Raquel just radiates God's beauty. They live in an extremely dangerous part of San Salvador but that hasn't affected their love for God. Their parents are both believers however attended a different church than the girls. Many churches do not have children's programs so that is why many children come alone to our church. Their father woke up in the middle of the night and just collapsed and died of natural causes. They knew it was just his time to go and be with the Lord. We, as the discipleship department, all went to the funeral to support the girls. We drove up to the cemetery and waited for the body to arrive. Shortly there after we heard music and saw the crowd slowly walking around the truck that carried the casket. The girls were weeping and walked up to the site as some other kids that are in our program came up to greet us. It really impacted me that when the girls' mother spoke she said thank you to everyone who came from Castillo del Rey to support their girls and thanked us for our work in teaching them the things of Christ. She said that her husband, their father, planted the seed in their hearts and we are the ones watering it. Then came the time for people to pass and see the body one last time which was absolutely heart wrenching to hear the cries of the girls as they saw their father for the last time on earth. As they lowered him into the ground we had the girls with us and just loved on them and comforted them as much as we could. After he was buried their mother came over to all of us and thanked us again for our work with the girls and for coming. It was probably one of the saddest moments I have had thus far because I just felt so helpless. To see little children that you work with and care for hurting in such a way that you can do nothing to make it better is simply horrible.
